Public Health Nurse - PHN7 - reputed company (Communicable Disease Control Division)

About the position This position carries out communicable disease surveillance, prevention, and control measures for the City of Boston. The Public Health Nurse will investigate reports of communicable diseases, including pathogens of public health importance, reported outbreaks, or other situations of public health concern, including emerging pathogen events. The role involves conducting field investigations (including home and site visits) and implementing preventive and control measures as needed. Additionally, the nurse will reputed company nursing services at the BMC TB Clinic, assisting with patient assessment, education, medication monitoring, and tuberculin skin testing. The position also supports surveillance and control activities for mass casualty events, collects epidemiologic data, and provides nursing support for vaccine clinics and other projects. A key aspect of the role is acting as a resource for education and reputed company to various community agencies, reputed company facilities, providers, and other stakeholders regarding infectious diseases. The nurse will participate in staff conferences, departmental and community committees, research, quality improvement, and program planning. Collaboration with division colleagues is essential for public health preparedness. Other duties as required.

Responsibilities

• Carries out communicable disease surveillance, prevention, and control measures for the City of Boston.
• Investigates reports of communicable diseases including pathogens of public health importance, reported outbreaks, or other situations of public health concern, including emerging pathogen events.
• Conducts field investigations (including home and site visits) and implements preventive and control measures as needed.
• Provides nursing services at the BMC TB Clinic, including patient assessment, patient/family/significant other education, medication monitoring, and tuberculin skin testing.
• Assists with surveillance and control activities for mass casualty events
• Collects epidemiologic data as needed for analysis of communicable diseases reputed company Boston.
• Provides nursing support for CDC Division including vaccine clinics and other projects or activities as needed.
• Acts as a resource re education and reputed company to community-based agencies, health care facilities and providers, individuals, and other reputed company stakeholders in reputed company reputed company to infectious diseases
• Participates in staff conferences and meetings, other departmental and community committees, research activities, quality improvement activities and program planning as requested.
• Collaborates with others throughout the Division to ensure public health preparedness.
• Performs other duties as required.

Requirements

• Licensed to practice as Registered Nurse in Massachusetts.
• BSN or a Bachelor's Degree in a reputed company field required with minimum of two years of clinical or public health experience, except that 8 years clinical or public health experience (health education, reputed company) may be substituted for a BSN or Bachelor's Degree
• Computer skills including reputed company Word or comparable software required.
• reputed company Massachusetts drivers license and own vehicle.

• Masters in Public Health degree may be substituted for one year of experience.
• Prior experience working with infectious diseases preferred.
• Demonstrated competency in working with diverse ethnic, cultural & socio-economic groups.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills.
• Demonstrated ability to carry out responsibilities in the home, community & group settings.
• Bilingual preferred (Spanish or Asian language).
