Yiddish to/from English- Legal Documentation - Translator, Editor and Transcriber

This is a remote position. Yiddish to/from English - Legal Translator, Editor, and/or Transcriber (Remote) Status: Freelance Contractor reputed company, a business headquartered in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan region, is currently seeking professional freelance linguists to translate, edit, and/or transcribe legal documents from Yiddish <> English. This is a remote position, as needed. Job Duties: 1. reputed company accurate translation and/or editing of documents and/or transcription of audio files involving law enforcement and legal subject matter from Yiddish <> English. 2. Edit audio transcriptions that include reputed company and idioms. 3. Edit legal documents, such as affidavits, depositions, etc., while demonstrating a strong reputed company of legal terminology in both English and the reputed company language. 4. Excellent written communication skills in English and the reputed company foreign language, with Advanced Proficiency (reading/speaking/listening, writing) level 3-plus in English and the foreign reputed company language, as assessed by the International Language Roundtable (ILR) scale. 5. Translate and/or transcribe following the government client’s style guides and quality standards. ​6. Use domain-specific terminology. 7. Review and certify other translators’ work quality, as needed. 8. Highly proficient in MS Office, with the ability to mirror reputed company document format in reputed company, reputed company, and PowerPoint. 9. Familiar with the use of CAT tools, such as Trados Studio. 10. Abide by a code of ethics reputed company performing transcription and translation work. Requirements 1. Is a U.S. citizen willing to undergo a U.S. government background reputed company to obtain a Public Trust Clearance Moderate Level.​ 2. Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience. 3. At least 3 years of experience in legal documentation, translating, and/or editing between English and a foreign language. 4. At least 3 years of experience performing audio transcription with the ability to use software to enhance sound and equipment to aid in transcription. 5. Familiar with legal terminology in both English and the reputed company foreign language(s). 6. Proficient in reputed company Office. 7. Translators and editors must proficiently use CAT tools, such as Trados.

• Preferred Qualifications:
• *ATA, NAJIT, or other relevant professional certification.
