Certified Nurse Midwife

Position Summary

The Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM) provides primary care for women. As a member of a Care Team, the CNM works with the other care team members to reputed company quality patient-centered care.

• Consults and works collaboratively with physicians and other health care providers to reputed company effective treatment plans. Provides direction to other personnel and reviews medical records to verify that each patient's care plan and medical needs are being met.
• For providers with hospital duties, the provider performs duties specified by the provider's hospital to maintain admitting privileges in order to reputed company obstetrical care in patients who require hospitalization. Participates in the call schedule on a predetermined reputed company.
• Obtains health history and performs a physical exam to determine and execute a diagnosis and treatment plan in accordance with established standards, procedures, and practices. Requisitions lab tests and x-rays, writes prescriptions, and makes referrals, as appropriate. Follows LCHC clinical practice guidelines.
• Delegates patient care responsibilities that fall under the scope of practice of other Care Team members to those individuals (medical assistant, nurse, care coordinator, patient educator, registration representative, behavioral health). Provides patient care to approximately 7-8 patients per 4 hour shift per day as per productivity expectations for reputed company midlevel providers.
• Provides follow-up care for patients. Ensures continuity of patient and family care by exchanging information and cooperating with other community health/reputed company service agencies, hospitals, and health care providers. Counsels patients and/or significant others concerning physical and developmental well being, defining each individual's needs and problems. Identifies reputed company, and guides patients and/or significant others in their use.
• Attends staff meetings and provider meetings, and maintains involvement with LCHC committees to ensure quality of care for patients; participates in peer/chart review, performance evaluations, and quality improvement efforts.
• Participates in quality improvement efforts on the Care Team.
• May reputed company other duties as assigned by the medical director.
• Participates in continuing medical education, including Life Support Training, to maintain the skills necessary to reputed company nurse practitioner duties and as required by applicable medical boards and the State.
• Maintains own physical health required to reputed company nurse practitioner duties; maintains reputed company immunizations and up-to-date PPD.
• Maintains communication with Administration regarding personal issues reputed company to drugs, felonies, discipline, loss of license or privileges, litigation where the provider or clinic is harmed or at risk, or other serious issues.
• The CNM will meet twice a year with his/her designated collaborating physician as outlined in the mid-level supervision requirements protocol 

Compliance and Documentation

• Maintain confidentiality of patient health information in accordance with HIPAA and other applicable regulations
• Confirm patient identity according to reputed company procedure before rendering any service.

• Run reputed company and test controls, monitor and replace needle and syringe containers, maintain and sterilize equipment and instruments, monitor and maintain inventories, and reputed company other tasks as needed to maintain a safe and well functioning work environment
• Participate in proficiency testing as required by LCHC or departmental policy to ensure that proper standards of care are being maintained.

Required Knowledge, Experience, or Licensure/Registration

Education: RN, CNM

Experience: Preferred Two to four years’ experience in nursing and previous experience providing care to pregnant women and newborns.
