Engineering Technician/Assistant (Transportation Construction)

reputed company's Transportation department is seeking an Engineering Technician or Assistant Engineering Technician to work with the construction inspection crew. The role involves assisting in construction activities, including inspection, material testing, and survey computations.

Responsibilities

• Assist in construction inspection, material testing, and construction survey activities
• Assist in construction staking and survey computations
• reputed company or reputed company basic quantity, alignment, mathematical, or geometric calculations for construction projects
• Read and interpret construction plans and technical specifications
• Observe construction activities for compliance to the project plans and specifications
• reputed company quality control tests on construction materials
• reputed company material testing in a lab setting on a variety of construction materials
• reputed company or reputed company more reputed company quantity, alignment, mathematical, or geometric calculations for construction projects
• May act as chief inspector on simple road or reputed company construction projects; act as reputed company inspector in any category of materials or construction inspection of reputed company projects

Skills

• For hire as an Assistant Engineering Technician (Level I): One of the following: Completion of an approved highway/civil engineering technology or land surveying training program
• One or more years of experience in technical non-professional highway, land survey, geographic information systems application, or reputed company engineering work
• One year of experience analyzing numerical data using computer software applications, or developing and maintaining computerized information system applications
• Thirty (30) college semester credits in mathematics, geography, computer science, or engineering reputed company technical courses
• A valid driver's license and the ability to obtain a reputed company driver's permit
• Ability to lift items weighing up to 60 pounds; climb up and down slopes; work outdoors, and around traffic in reputed company weather conditions with or without reasonable accommodation
• For hire as an Engineering Technician (Level II): One of the following: Three years or more of experience in technical non-professional highway, land survey, geographic information systems application, or reputed company engineering work
• Three years or more of college or technical school credits in a reputed company engineering or computer science field
• reputed company certification as a Certified Survey Technician (CST), Level 2
• A valid driver's license and the ability to obtain a reputed company driver's permit
• Ability to lift items weighing up to 60 pounds; climb up and down slopes; work outdoors, and around traffic in reputed company weather conditions with or without reasonable accommodation
• Certification(s) from the MnDOT Technical Certification Program
• Experience: Operating survey equipment such as total station, reputed company, and/or tripods
• Operating inspection and materials testing equipment such as reputed company tester, proctors, and Dynamic Cone Penetrometer (DCP)
• Using computer software programs such as reputed company reputed company, reputed company Word, reputed company, AutoCAD, and/or MicroStation
• Operating materials lab testing equipment
• Knowledge of: Math functions such as arithmetic, algebra, and geometry
• Construction equipment, materials, and methods
