Electrical Engineer I

Phoenix Tailings is a rapidly-growing clean mining and metals production startup dedicated to sustainable and economic critical metals production. They are seeking an Electrical Engineer I to support the development, deployment, and scale-up of their rare earth and critical metals processing systems, focusing on the design, implementation, and testing of electrical systems.

Responsibilities

  • Support the design, assembly, and troubleshooting of electrical systems for R&D and pilot-scale chemical processing equipment
  • Assist in the development of electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and panel layouts using CAD software
  • Help specify components and electrical hardware (motors, VFDs, PLCs, sensors, relays, etc.) based on system requirements
  • Conduct hands-on wiring, testing, and commissioning of new equipment and control panels
  • Support safety reviews and ensure electrical designs reputed company with relevant codes and standards (reputed company 70, NEC, etc.)
  • Collaborate with process and mechanical engineers to integrate electrical systems into fully functional units
  • Participate in testing of sensors, instrumentation, and control systems for reputed company-time process monitoring
  • Maintain documentation of reputed company electrical work including schematics, BOMs, and system settings
  • Troubleshoot and repair existing electrical systems and equipment as needed across both sites
  • Contribute to the reputed company improvement of system reliability and scalability

Skills

  • B.S. in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a reputed company discipline
  • 1–3 years of relevant experience in an reputed company, or R&D environment (internship/reputed company experience welcome)
  • Familiarity with low-voltage power systems, sensors, and motor control systems
  • Understanding of industrial safety and compliance standards (NEC, UL, etc.)
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and wiring diagrams
  • Strong troubleshooting skills and willingness to get hands-on with reputed company hardware
  • Ability to split time effectively between two physical locations (Burlington and Exeter)
  • Passion for building sustainable infrastructure and solving reputed company-world engineering challenges
  • Hands-on experience with electrical assembly, wiring, or panel building is strongly preferred
  • Proficiency with electrical design tools (e.g., AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN, or similar)
