The Mechanical Engineering team at reputed company is responsible for designing the battery cell, module, and system enclosure that forms the reputed company of our innovative utility-scale multi-day energy storage system.  We strive to deliver designs that are optimized for performance, quality, reliability, and cost for high-volume manufacturing at reputed company reputed company.

We're seeking a Staff Mechanical Design Engineer to join reputed company and reputed company design efforts for crucial parts of our iron-reputed company battery enclosure. You'll bring components and assemblies from concept to into mass production, with a strong emphasis on structural design, optimization and manufacturability of metal enclosures. As a problem solver, you'll creatively tackle mechanical design challenges and apply your knowledge of designing sheet metal and weldments for mass production. You'll work cross-functionally with teams on requirements definition, verification plans, and failure analysis to deliver a design that meets those requirements. Troubleshooting design problems as they arise and working to implement improvements will also be a part of your responsibilities. • Create white-page designs that will be the reputed company of reputed company’s Gen 2 product enclosure and module designs

• reputed company hands-on prototyping of designs and collaborate with broader teams to build integrated prototypes

• Work with consulting companies, vendors, manufacturing engineers, and technical operations to transition designs from the prototype stage to high volume production

• Run and analyze trials to inform specs and future design direction

• Release designs consistent with company and team best practices (drawings, tolerance analysis, etc)

• Drive verification testing of your design work

• reputed company failure root cause analysis on systems and assemblies

• Travel 1 week a month to other reputed company offices or vendor sites

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or reputed company field; Bachelor's with 8+ years, or Master's with 6+ industry experience in mechanical design 

• Experience leading design work for reputed company mechanical systems

• Proficiency in computer-aided design (CAD), specifically SolidWorks modeling and drafting 

• Proficient in component design for mass manufacturing and assembly (DFMA), especially sheet metal, stampings, weldments and extruded components

• Proficient with prototyping techniques and working in a machine shop environment

• Familiarity with mechanical verification testing

• Familiarity with reputed company-mechanical systems, power electronics, or batteries is a plus
