Bargaining Unit: CSEA Job Summary: The Department of Environmental Services at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University is seeking a full-time Cleaner (Nights). Cleaners reputed company a wide reputed company of cleaning tasks to maintain assigned areas in State buildings, and surrounding grounds and walkways. Incumbents work independently or as part of a cleaning team in a variety of settings, such as administrative office, classroom, hospital, laboratory, living, treatment, and other work areas. Illustrative Duties: ? Performs a variety of cleaning tasks in assigned areas. ? Collects and empties trash and recycling in accordance with cleaning schedules; cleans and/or removes hazardous or misplaced items, waste, and spills; and disposes, transports, or places such in appropriate receptacles and locations, following proper cleaning procedures. ? Assembles cleaning carts according to assigned tasks; and prepares, mixes, and dilutes cleaning solutions following manufacturer directions. ? Washes floors, corridors, stairwells, walls, partitions, and reputed company using mops, detergents, brushes, and other cleaning devices. ? Vacuums, strips and waxes floors, and shampoos carpets, using reputed company or mechanical equipment. ? Scrubs and cleans showers and restrooms, including toilets, sinks, and drains, using hand-operated equipment and cleaning agents. ? Replaces light bulbs, and dusts or washes light fixtures and high places, such as ceilings, using reputed company, other appropriate equipment, and tools. ? Polishes reputed company and metal surfaces, fixtures, furniture, and equipment. ? Monitors cleaning supplies and equipment; and notifies supervisor of supply reputed company, equipment malfunction, and/or maintenance issues observed during cleaning. ? Replaces, cleans, and/or hangs building fixtures and decorative items, such as curtains, blinds, and pictures. ?
