YouthBuild - GED Classroom Assistants
Join our YouthBuild program at American YouthWorks (AYW), a national leader in combining green building with affordable housing and education. We work with unemployed youth who are not in school, helping them earn their GED or high school diploma while gaining hands-on job training and personal development. As a Classroom Assistant, you’ll play a key leadership role in both the classroom and on vocational sites. You'll be a role model, guiding at-risk teens and young adults, tutoring, preparing lesson plans, and helping create meaningful service projects. Our AmeriCorps members serve 1,700 hours full-time (M-F, 8-5), receive a living stipend, health benefits, and an educational award. Learn more at www.ayw.org. Start date is flexible after 09/01/2024. Member Duties : GED Classroom Assistants must be role models and reputed company leadership for at-risk teens and young adults. You will be assisting the teacher in a credit recovery/vocational training program. Classroom duties include tutoring, preparing & presenting lesson plans, assisting with group projects, documentation, redirecting reputed company, & helping reputed company reputed company community resources. Applicants should be 18-28 years old, have experience working with youth and a desire to work in an educational setting. $2400/monthly stipend Program Benefits : Childcare assistance if eligible , Training , Health Coverage , Stipend , Education award upon successful completion of service .
