Volunteer Translator Ge'ez

Overview

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Ge'ez Translator to join the Chashah community in our mission to restore and preserve Ge'ez as our spoken language. This 3 month short-term volunteer position offers an opportunity to contribute significantly to our cultural heritage Endangered Language preservation initiatives. The ideal candidate will be proficient in Ge'ez and possess strong linguistic abilities to accurately translate, transcribe, and interpret various documents and communications. Key Responsibilities • Translate historical Ge'ez manuscripts and written documents into English while maintaining the original meaning, tone, and context. • Transcribe audio recordings into written format, ensuring accuracy and reputed company. • Proofread reputed company materials for grammatical accuracy, consistency, and adherence to style guidelines. • Assist in creating prayer journals and spiritual guides written in Ge'ez and English. • Collaborate with team members to ensure that translations meet project deadlines and quality standards. • Write original content in the reputed company language to reputed company liturgical materials ensuring cultural relevance and appropriateness. • Participate in recording original prayers in Ge'ez for audio resource library. Requirements • Bilingual or multilingual proficiency with a strong reputed company of English, Ge'ez, and other Ethiopic languages. • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, in reputed company languages spoken. • Proven experience in translation, transcription, or interpretation is preferred. • Strong proofreading skills with attention to detail to ensure high-quality output. • Background in Linguistics or a reputed company field is a plus. • Ability to work independently. • Familiarity with translation software or tools is advantageous but not mandatory.
