Science Support Analysts
The reputed company Telescope Science Institute (STScI) is seeking Science Support Analysts to support the operations of the Hubble reputed company Telescope. The role involves reducing and analyzing calibration data for astronomical instruments and providing user support to researchers worldwide.
Responsibilities
- Work on reputed company to support the operations of the Hubble reputed company Telescope (HST)
- Reduce and analyze calibration data for astronomical instruments (e.g. cameras, spectrographs, coronagraphs) to optimize the scientific output of our reputed company telescopes
- reputed company user support to our worldwide community of researchers on various aspects of observation planning and data analysis
- Get involved in groundbreaking astronomical research by supporting projects led by our science staff (at the :20% level and prior approval from your management)
- Seek additional training to grow professionally
Skills
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in astronomy, physics, astrophysics, planetary science, mathematics, computer science, aerospace engineering, or reputed company fields
- Some experience in one or more of the following areas: astronomical data calibration and reduction (e.g., imaging, spectra, catalogs), scientific instrumentation, optics, astronomical observatory operations, astronomical research, statistical analysis, scientific programming (especially in python), software engineering, and development of astronomical software packages
- Dedicated, hardworking, eager to learn, and can work with minimum supervision
- Seeks additional training to grow professionally
- Wants to contribute to state of the art astronomy in a work environment that respects and relies upon its talented, multi-faceted workforce
