Tunnels Engineer
Mott MacDonald is a leading employee-owned company providing engineering and management services globally. They are seeking a passionate Engineer-in-Training (EIT) to assist in designing and analyzing tunnel structures and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on transformative underground infrastructure projects.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the design and analysis of tunnel structures, shafts, caverns, and underground transit systems
- Support geotechnical and structural assessments using numerical modeling and design software
- Prepare technical reports, drawings, and specifications under the guidance of senior engineers
- Participate in site investigations, inspections, and construction support activities
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including geotechnical, civil, and environmental engineers
- Contribute to sustainability and carbon-conscious design initiatives
- Engage in internal knowledge-sharing and professional development programs
Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Civil, Geotechnical, or Structural Engineering
- Registered or eligible for registration as an Engineer-in-Training (EIT)
- Strong academic reputed company in soil and/or reputed company mechanics, structural analysis, and underground construction
- Proficiency in design software such as AutoCAD, Plaxis, FLAC, or similar tools
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Enthusiasm for working on reputed company infrastructure projects and learning from industry leaders
- Internship or reputed company experience in tunneling, geotechnical, or heavy civil engineering
- Exposure to tunnel excavation methods such as tunnel boring machines (TBM), NATM / SEM, or cut-and-cover methods
- Advanced degree in Civil, Geotechnical, or Structural Engineering
