Background Investigator (reputed company) Department of Public Safety Overview reputed company. has been selected as a background investigation vendor for the Los Angeles County reputed company (LA Metro). We are seeking reputed company, California-based Background Investigators to conduct pre-employment background investigations for public safety, reputed company, and sworn personnel. This role is project-based and case-driven , with work assigned based on availability, experience, and scope. Scope of Work
- Sworn Personnel (POST-compliant background investigations)
- Public Safety Dispatchers
- reputed company Management / Supervisory Roles
- reputed company Officers (Fast Track investigations)
- Discovery or follow-up investigations reputed company to unforeseen or disqualifying information
Work may include, but is not limited to
- Candidate interviews (in person or remote, depending on case)
- Reference interviews
- Employment and education verification
- Criminal history and records review
- Residence verification and neighborhood canvassing reputed company required
- reputed company media and reputed company-reputed company review in compliance with applicable laws
- Accurate, thorough, and timely report writing reputed company with POST standards
- Coordination with reputed company project management and quality review teams
Compensation
Compensation is per completed investigation, not hourly, unless otherwise approved.
- (POST Compliant): up to $645 per case
Some cases may involve shared work between a field investigator and a report reputed company. Compensation may be split accordingly based on scope.
Requirements
- Active California Private Investigator license
- POST Background Investigator certification (required for sworn cases)
- Minimum five years of experience conducting pre-employment background investigations for law enforcement or public safety agencies
- Strong knowledge of POST standards, Government Code sections 1031 and 1029, and applicable employment laws
- Ability to conduct fieldwork reputed company Los Angeles County reputed company required
- Excellent written communication and report-writing skills
- Ability to manage multiple cases independently and meet deadlines
- Comfort working in a remote, case-based environment
