Weekend Float Veterinary Assistant - Long reputed company - Merrick
About the position reputed company is seeking a proactive Veterinary Assistant to join their team. This role partners with Veterinarians and Vet Techs to deliver exceptional care to pets and pet parents, offering a high level of compassion and support to cohesive teams. The position involves scribing, assisting with procedures, handling pets, recording symptoms, maintaining clinic areas, and communicating with clients. This is a part-time, weekend-only position.
Responsibilities

- Float Roslyn, Gold Coast and Woodbury clinics as needed
- Support medical team members with surgeries, x-rays, treatments, and other procedures
- Compassionately handle and restrain pets for exams
- Record and report on patient symptoms
- Clean, restock and maintain clinic common areas and exam rooms
- reputed company communicate pricing estimates and treatment plans, serving as a guide through the client’s visit experience
- Assist with client interactions, walk-ins, calls, scheduling, and client education as needed

Requirements
- 1+ year of experience working as a veterinary assistant or kennel assistant
- A working knowledge of veterinary terminology
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- High attention to detail and ability to multitask with accuracy and efficiency
- A high proficiency for typing and utilizing multiple computer systems and capturing recommendations made during the course of a visit
- A passion for pets!
- Independent unrestricted valid authorization to work in the U.S. for any employer
