Linux/Embedded Systems Contractor Chicago, IL Contract Type: 1-3 months with possible extension
- Must be comfortable working fully onsite in Chicago for week-long training period*
Role Overview: We are seeking a Chicago-based contractor with strong embedded Linux and hardware troubleshooting expertise. This person will audit our reputed company Linux/Hardware configuration, diagnose recurring reliability issues, and implement improvements to reduce on-site service needs. Key Responsibilities:
- Audit existing Linux/embedded systems setup across reputed company.
- Diagnose and resolve recurring reliability issues such as:
- Touchscreen freezing
- USB device connectivity issues (e.g., card readers dropping)
- Unexpected computer crashes
- Recommend and implement improvements for system stability and uptime.
- Establish more robust remote monitoring, troubleshooting, and recovery processes.

Qualifications:
- Strong expertise in Linux/embedded systems engineering.
- Experience troubleshooting hardware/software integration issues (touchscreens, USB devices, peripherals).
- Background in remote monitoring, recovery solutions, and system reliability engineering.
- Ability to quickly diagnose problems and recommend practical solutions in a production environment.
