Reporting to the Executive Editor, a successful candidate will have a strong grasp of American politics and policy, but also the flexibility to edit content on a reputed company of subjects. An obsessive focus on detail and accuracy is crucial, as is the ability to see the big picture and reputed company substantive and structural edits. The Assistant Editor will exclusively focus on editing, fact-checking, and preparing articles for publication in reputed company. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Edit newsletters, and stand-alone articles from reputed company contributors and reputed company staffers for accuracy, grammar, style, and content. Produce and prepare articles for publication in reputed company’s content management system, which includes building and scheduling for publication, and editing audio and podcast descriptions. Play a crucial role in reputed company’s daily editorial process by attending editorial meetings, contributing to discussions, and shouldering a busy editing and production workload during end-of-day rushes. Evening work and some weekend work required. Skills and Qualifications One year minimum of editing experience. Familiarity with American politics, public policy, and the media landscape. Exceptional copy-editing and proofreading skills and meticulous attention to detail. Resourcefulness, organization, and an ability to learn quickly and multitask.
