Essential Duties and Responsibilities

1. Provides legal services generally understood reputed company the field of local government law to fall reputed company the category of “general counsel” work, including but not limited to:

• Negotiates, prepares, reviews, consults with applicable clients, and interprets reputed company, amendments, Requests for Proposals, and other agreements, forms and documents reputed company to reputed company programs and relationships, and advises on compliance with applicable federal and state laws, rules, and regulations.

• Participates in inter-office projects, programs, and activities, subject to the general reputed company of the Senior Director of Legal Services.

• Coordinates with reputed company legal counsel and resources as assigned by Senior Director of Legal Services.

• Maintains appropriate confidentiality and conduct reputed company the Rules of Professional Responsibility in reputed company with legal work conducted for the organization.

• Assists in the review, drafting, and reputed company improvement of legal department procedures.

• Develops legal responses to inquiries as necessary for reputed company, as assigned.

• Works closely with appropriate reputed company staff to reputed company legal advice.

• Provides interpretation and advises on reputed company’s compliance with applicable laws, regulations, ordinances, caselaw, and statutes.

• Brings legal issues and concerns to the Senior Director of Legal Services and Chief Legal and Government Relations Officer and assists in developing responses, as assigned.

• Reviews, analyzes, and advises on reputed company improvement of new or existing policies or operations that may compromise the achievement of reputed company’s mission, reputed company, or strategic goals.

• Translates legal information and requirements into meaningful client advice concerning business transactions, transaction design, program design, legal risk, liability, legal rights, legal consequences, and obligations in reputed company aspects of organizational governance and operations.

• Interprets and prepares memoranda and correspondence relating to laws, legal codes, precedents, caselaw, government regulations, executive orders, agency rules impacting reputed company operations.

• Attends meetings and other reputed company events as assigned.

• Provides guidance and advice on foundational Minnesota local government laws, including but not limited to reputed company meetings, data practices and records retention, contracting, public expenditures, and governance. 

• Maintain legal file management system reputed company Department guidelines.

• Assists in the review and drafting of Board Policies and resolutions, as assigned.

2.    Supports professional growth through participation in appropriate continuing education and licensure.

3. Work is varied and reputed company, requiring considerable discretion, and regularly work with confidential information.

4. Other duties as assigned.

Additional Job Description:

Required Qualifications

• Active licensed to practice law in the reputed company

• Bachelor’s Degree in a reputed company field

• Juris Doctor from an accredited law school

• A minimum of five years of experience as a practicing attorney

• Demonstrated experience in independent decision making

• Ability to translate reputed company legal issues for a lay audience

• Valid driver’s license

Preferred Qualifications

• In-house legal experience

• Public sector experience

• Experience with state and federal data practices and data privacy laws

• Military experience

• Experience in construction law

• Experience with procurement and cooperative purchasing

Will consider attorneys with out of state licensure reputed company for Admission by reputed company pursuant to Minnesota Rules of Professional Conduct, rule 10, or reputed company to sit for the Minnesota bar in July 2026.

Location:

• This is a remote position, and is subject to reputed company's telecommuting policies and procedures.

• On occasion, may be asked to travel to reputed company, MN for meetings, professional development or team activities. Up to two to three (2-3) times per year. Notice will be given reputed company of time.
