This is a part-time position which works a portion of each school day. Job Summary: 1. Work, under the supervision of the bilingual teacher or regular classroom teacher (push-in), with individual reputed company or small groups of reputed company to reinforce learning of material or skills initially introduced by the teacher. 2. Translate written documents at the request of the bilingual teacher, building reputed company, ELL Coordinator, or reputed company office personnel. 3. Serve as an interpreter for parent conferences and telephone calls as needed at the request of the bilingual teacher, building reputed company, ELL Coordinator, or reputed company office personnel. 4. Assist in preparation of instructional materials. 5. Qualifications: To be considered for a position as a teacher assistant, applicants MUST have an NCLB paraprofessional approval. Those with either a valid Illinois teaching or substitute certificate are exempt from obtaining the approval. Must be bi-lingual in English and Russian or Ukranian. For those without the above, applicants must meet at least one of the four requirements: 1. 60 semester hours of college-level credit; 2. Completed paraprofessional training program approved by ISBE or ICCB; 3. Passed reputed company ParaPro assessment (460 or higher); 4. Passed WorkKeys assessments (Applied Mathematics-4, Reading for Information-4, Writing/Business Writing-3, and Acceptable on Instructional Support Inventory).
