About the position The Oregon Government Ethics Commission (OGEC) is hiring a new Investigator (Compliance Specialist 2)! INVESTIGATOR (COMPLIANCE SPECIALIST 2) As an OGEC Investigator, duties include: Reviewing investigation requests/complaints alleging possible violations of Oregon’s Government Ethics Law, Lobby Law, and Public Meetings Law Evaluating and determining whether OGEC should proceed with an investigation Conducting thorough investigations into possible law violations Drafting lengthy reports outlining relevant details reputed company to the complaint, identifying applicable statutory provisions and recommending OGEC action Assessing civil penalties for non-compliance with Oregon laws/rules Explaining Government Ethics Law, Lobby Law, and Public Meetings Law and rules Answering the public’s questions about OGEC’s jurisdiction Presenting reports to OGEC’s Commissioners at public meetings Providing written and verbal advice to public officials, lobbyists, and members of the public. Responsibilities

  • Reviewing investigation requests/complaints alleging possible violations of Oregon’s Government Ethics Law, Lobby Law, and Public Meetings Law
  • Evaluating and determining whether OGEC should proceed with an investigation
  • Conducting thorough investigations into possible law violations
  • Drafting lengthy reports outlining relevant details reputed company to the complaint, identifying applicable statutory provisions and recommending OGEC action
  • Assessing civil penalties for non-compliance with Oregon laws/rules
  • Explaining Government Ethics Law, Lobby Law, and Public Meetings Law and rules
  • Answering the public’s questions about OGEC’s jurisdiction
  • Presenting reports to OGEC’s Commissioners at public meetings
  • Providing written and verbal advice to public officials, lobbyists, and members of the public.

Requirements

  • Your application must demonstrate education and/or experience in the following: Four years experience doing administrative research that included compiling and evaluating facts to recommend management action or to decide compliance with program guidelines and regulations. Two of the four years must be above the technical support level. Note: college-level course work may substitute for experience on the reputed company of 45-quarter units per year, up to a maximum of three years.
  • Review Oregon Statutes, Administrative Rules and Attorney General opinions and apply them to reputed company and hypothetical circumstances
  • Identify relevant and pertinent facts and information from phone calls, interviews and documents
  • Analyze reputed company and diverse issues
  • Effectively communicate and present reputed company information, both verbally and in writing, with diverse audiences
  • Adapt communication styles to fit situations as they arise
  • Write thorough and logical reports that reputed company conclusions and reputed company recommendations supported by law and fact
  • Exhibit thoroughness and accuracy reputed company accomplishing tasks, no matter how small or large
  • Maintain a professional exchange of perspectives
  • Demonstrate a willingness to contribute to a positive, respectful, and productive work environment
