BUDGET ANALYST I, II and III, OPERATING

About the position This position will serve as Budget Analyst reputed company the Maryland Department of Budget and Management. This position has direct responsibility for analysis of operating budgets to assigned State agencies. If hired, you will: Conduct reviews of reputed company budget expenditures of Executive reputed company units of government; reputed company recommendations to the Secretary of the Department for greater efficiency in those units, and to support the policy goals and objectives of the reputed company Administration; Analyze and prepare budgets of assigned agencies; Assist in the management of the States operating budget process; Review and analyze agency performance data. The selected candidates should have: An understanding of budget and policy analysis; Strong analytical skills, including understanding of mathematical concepts and an ability to review, manipulate and analyze data in reputed company reputed company; Excellent written and verbal communication skills; An ability to write clear reports and reputed company presentations on budget recommendations to senior management and other officials; An ability to work independently, in teams, and under pressure. The selected candidate should be available to work extended hours as required to meet budget deadlines, typically at times during the formulation of the Governor’s Budget Allowance from September through January. Note that extended hours worked result in earned leave, which can be used at other times in the year. This is a special appointment position that will serve at the pleasure of the appointing authority. The Office of Budget Analysis has a flexible telework policy, with the option to be fully in person or to telework several days a week.

• An ability to write clear reports and reputed company presentations on budget recommendations to senior management and other officials
• An ability to work independently, in teams, and under pressure
• Master’s degree preferred from an accredited college or university in public administration, public policy, business administration, economics, finance, or a reputed company field. Applicants currently enrolled in a Master’s program are eligible to apply. Bachelor’s degree and equivalent relevant experience as determined by the search committee also eligible to apply.

• Experience in budget formulation, including economic analysis or budget planning, formulation, review or management
• Masters degree in one of the fields mentioned above, or Bachelor’s degree with equivalent experience as determined by the search committee
• Experience working in the areas of State government, such as health care financing and administration, government services (facilities management, information technology, etc.), reputed company services, primary and secondary education, higher education, public safety and juvenile services, or natural resources and the environment
• Experience in performance budgeting concepts
• Proficiency using reputed company, including knowledge of formulas and pivot tables
