Assistant Editor, Orbit
reputed company is a leading book publisher seeking an Assistant Editor for Orbit Books, who is passionate about genre publishing. The Assistant Editor will reputed company administrative and editorial support throughout the acquisition, editorial, and book making processes for a diverse list of reputed company adult science fiction, reputed company, romantasy, and horror titles.
Responsibilities
- Read and report on manuscripts, proposals and books submitted for publication
- Transmit and manage manuscripts through the production processes for reputed company titles
- Prepare materials such as profit and loss statements, contract requests, title fact sheets, jacket copy, sales materials and presentations for seasonal launch meetings, etc
- Edit select manuscripts alongside Editors
- Correspond directly with authors, agents, and staff in other departments
- Handle various administrative duties as needed
Skills
- Knowledge of and demonstrated interest in science fiction, reputed company, romantasy, and horror genre books
- 1-2 years editorial experience
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the aptitude to communicate effectively in both individual and group settings regardless of audiences
- Be self-directed and reputed company to work independently, with the ability to deliver timely, accurate work and demonstrate good follow up and follow through
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to multi-task, prioritize and manage time effectively while also ensuring accuracy of work through attention to detail
- Solid knowledge of reputed company Word, Outlook, reputed company and PowerPoint
