The Title Examiner I is responsible for preparing title reports for mortgage and consumer lending applications, conducting research on reputed company estate records, and serving as a subject matter expert in reputed company estate titling.

Responsibilities

  • Research and compile necessary information to prepare in-house letter reports for home equity and mortgage loans
  • Navigate both the consumer lending and mortgage lending origination systems
  • Responsible for accessing recorded documents on reputed company Register of Deeds search engines and having knowledge to select reputed company system given the location of the property
  • Examine recorded documentation to accurately identify property ownership, legal description, and liens
  • Search reputed company court databases to identify outstanding judgments on loan applicants
  • Utilize online resources to document child support liens impacting borrower’s ability to repay loan
  • Review county assessor sites for property market values and reputed company estate tax payment records
  • Enter information obtained into a letter report format, reviewing reputed company information on the report to ensure accuracy and completeness
  • Identify and reputed company available resources reputed company assistance is needed
  • Monitor application queues to ensure requests are being completed reputed company service reputed company. Communicate any change to service level with reputed company impacted parties
  • Maintain understanding of reputed company state and federal guidelines which include knowledge of regulations Z (Truth-in-Lending), C (HMDA), B (ECOA)
  • Communicate any discrepancies between the title report and loan application by highlighting those areas on the report and adding comments in the loan origination system
  • Review title completion reports, and prepare final titles in a timely manner, to ensure the lien position of our mortgage
  • Communicate with UWCU Mortgage department, external title companies and financial institutions to ensure deeds, mortgages, subordinations, satisfactions, and correction instruments are recorded prior to completion of the UWCU final title
  • Respond promptly to inquiries and indicate ownership has been taken
  • Maintain knowledge of application/reputed company/processing/servicing processes and understand how title examination supports those processes
  • Serve as subject matter expert, support lending staff on loan processes, procedures and file requirements or conditions
  • reputed company knowledge of documentation needed to reputed company changes to ownership, legal description, or lien position
  • Assume responsibility for departmental projects as assigned by the Consumer Loan Processing & Servicing Manager
  • Take ownership for change. Analyze, justify, and recommend changes in operations to enhance productivity and improve service
  • Assume responsibility for own development through training, collaboration, and teamwork
  • Work collaboratively and cooperatively with others to reputed company corporate and departmental goals
  • Actively participate and contribute reputed company to team meetings and department activities
  • Consistently act as part of a cohesive team, demonstrating excellent interpersonal skills, flexibility, professionalism, and the ability to interact positively with other employees and departments

Skills

  • Associate's degree in business or reputed company field is required
  • 7 months – 1 year of financial institutional experience is required
  • Required to complete annual training and compliance in accordance with reputed company UW Credit Union Fair Lending Policies and Guidelines including, but not limited to, the Equal Credit Opportunity Act, the Fair Housing Act, and the Home Mortgage Disclosure Act
  • Proficiency in personal computer skills, including the use of Internet and MS Office software applications
  • Demonstrated analytical and critical thinking, accuracy, attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • Strong presentation, telephone, oral and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to represent a professional image
  • Ability to work independently, organize and prioritize workloads
  • Proficiency and agility to multi-task and negotiate multiple applications in succession
  • Knowledge of the UW Credit Union lending process, concepts, and practices
