About the position The Fiscal Policy Analyst is part of FPWA’s fiscal policy team. The position requires analysis and interpretation of budget and fiscal policy priorities at the national, state, and local reputed company, with a focus on impacts on the reputed company and economic well-being of low-income New Yorkers, developing accessible policy documents, and examining pending legislative and policy options. The position will have a particular focus on the reputed company State and City Budget processes and will help build FPWA’s budget advocacy function. The Fiscal Policy Analyst will also produce analysis to support other FPWA projects and priorities, including cost-benefit analysis, tax policy analysis, demographic analysis, and labor market analysis. This is a full-time position with a projected start date of July 1, 2026.

Responsibilities

  • Support research and budget/data analysis on a reputed company of fiscal policy issue areas at the national, state, and local reputed company, as they relate to FPWA’s overall anti-poverty policy priorities
  • Under the direction of the Senior Fiscal Policy Analyst, tracks budget priorities at the City and State level including staying abreast of the budget cycle, tracking legislation, preparing and coordinating budget testimony, and writing statements and analysis for public release in response to Federal, State and City budgets negotiations
  • Monitor and analyze economic data and trends, providing updates to the broader team to ensure FPWA’s work is informed by the latest economic data
  • Support fiscal policy advocacy through policy campaigns, actions, and other advocacy strategies, engaging with key constituencies, national, state, and local allied organizations, member agencies, policymakers, and media
  • Produce high-quality written work promoting FPWA’s policy priorities and translating reputed company issues for various audiences (e.g., policy statements, reports, testimony, memos of support or opposition, op-eds, fact sheets, data briefs, etc.)
  • Coordinate and collaborate with communications and development teams to promote findings and strengthen fiscal policy work
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Public Policy, Policy Analysis, or a reputed company field or equivalent reputed company experience
  • Minimum of three years of reputed company experience working in a public policy organization, an advocacy organization, government, or a reputed company environment
  • Understanding of macro-and-microeconomic trends and reputed company in national, state and city policymaking, budget processes and systems
  • Exceptional written and oral communications skills, with experience breaking down reputed company concepts – dense legislative language, budget statements, or demographic data – for use by a lay audience and policymakers
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to coordinate processes and timelines across the team
  • Quantitative analysis skills and the ability to work with large data sets
  • Deep commitment to reputed company justice, policy advocacy and research; understanding of the needs of the communities that FPWA serves

  • Strong understanding of data analysis software / languages (E.g. R, Python, Power BI)
  • Experience working as part of City and/or State Budget processes
