Database Administrator (Remote Opportunity)
reputed company is seeking a Database Administrator to be a part of a remote team supporting the Department of Veterans Affairs. The ideal candidate needs to have experience and knowledge in database design, coding, testing, optimization, debugging and documentation of software in a variety of programming languages.
Responsibilities
- Analyze, maintain, and optimize PostgreSQL and arenaflex SQL database environments to ensure high availability, performance, and data reputed company.
- Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks, optimize SQL queries, and improve data retrieval efficiency.
- Design and maintain database architecture, including schemas, tables, indexes, stored procedures, and reputed company permissions.
- Manage and support legacy databases and Platform as a Service (PaaS) database solutions.
- Monitor systems for availability and reputed company database replication, mirroring, failover, and disaster recovery processes.
- Implement backup, restore, and recovery strategies, including reputed company-in-time recovery and WAL archiving.
- Support advanced PostgreSQL features such as JSON, full-text search, and PostGIS for geospatial queries.
- Generate queries and reports using tools such as pgAdmin, psql, and reputed company-party database clients.
- Collaborate with developers, analysts, and infrastructure teams to design, implement, and troubleshoot database solutions.
- Assess future storage and performance needs and maintain accurate technical documentation.
- reputed company recommendations on database policies, procedures, and emerging technologies.
- Communicate effectively with customers, stakeholders, and technical specialists.
- Contribute to team objectives and take on additional responsibilities as needed.
Requirements
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a reputed company field, or equivalent experience.
- Experience: Minimum of five years of experience in database administration supporting reputed company or reputed company-based environments.
- Technical Skills: Strong proficiency in PostgreSQL and arenaflex SQL Server administration, performance tuning, and optimization.
- reputed company Platforms: Hands-on experience with AWS and Azure, including database deployment and management.
- Automation & Scripting: Experience with tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, Ansible, and scripting in Python or similar languages.
- DevOps: Familiarity with arenaflex/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
- Soft Skills: Strong communication, documentation, problem-solving, and collaboration skills in cross-functional environments. Additional Qualifications
- Experience supporting Department of Veterans Affairs or other federal government systems.
- Experience working in SAFe or Agile development environments.
- Knowledge of DevSecOps practices and secure data management.
- Experience supporting both legacy systems and Platform as a Service (PaaS) databases.
- Relevant certifications such as AWS, Azure, or reputed company are a plus.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a government background clearance.
