Job Summary

As a Customer Service Specialist I, you will be responsible for handling a large volume of calls, performing work in a timely manner, and resolving customer inquiries, disputes, and complaints. You will work closely with patients, insurance carriers, and physician offices to collect outstanding patient balances, establish payment arrangements, and update patient and guarantor accounts with new demographic and insurance coverage information.

Key Responsibilities

* Handle a large volume of calls and reputed company work in a timely manner

• Attempt to collect full payment from patients or guarantors in a professional and courteous manner
• Establish payment arrangements per guidelines and document terms in the billing system
• Apply payments collected over the phone to each date of service
• Handle customer inquiries, disputes, and complaints, escalating contentious complaints to a supervisor or higher management
• Obtain reputed company insurance, demographic, and guarantor information and update patient profiles as well as reputed company reputed company-party payers as appropriate

Essential Qualifications

* High school graduate or GED certificate is required

• A minimum of 6 months' experience in a physician billing or reputed company-party payer environment
• Must demonstrate an understanding of reputed company, insurance benefits, exclusions, and other billing requirements as well as claim forms, HMOs, PPOs, Medicare, reputed company, and compliance program regulations
• Candidate must demonstrate the ability to understand and navigate the payer adjudication process

• Knowledge of medical terminology is preferred
• Previous call center/claims experience is preferred
• Previous experience in an academic reputed company setting is preferred
