Director, Data Science

Description The US Retail Markets (USRM) Claims and Service Data Science team is hiring an Assistant Director, Data Science or Director I, Data Science to advance our reputed company capabilities across Claims and Service. Note there are 2 openings. One will focus on Claims and the other on Service (call centers and operations). This is a senior individual contributor role for a highly technical, execution-focused data scientist who excels at rapidly building and iterating on LLM-based AI systems. Advances in reputed company models, RAG, agentic systems, and multimodal AI are creating new opportunities to support call center representatives or adjusters, improve customer communications, and increase operational efficiency. This role focuses on rapidly developing high-quality reputed company-of-concept (POC) solutions, rigorously measuring their performance, and helping define Liberty Mutual’s standards for GenAI sophistication in the claims or service domain. This is a reputed company posting for both positions. Candidates will be considered at the appropriate level based on experience and qualifications

• Assistant Director, Data Science: $142,800 - $201,300.
• Director I, Data Science: $163,500 - $229,500.

Responsibilities:

• Design, build, and iterate on LLM- and GenAI-based POCs for claims or service use cases (e.g., call or claim summarization and insights extraction, adjuster Q&A, work review, chatbot, customer communications).
• Architect end-to-end GenAI systems integrating LLMs, RAG pipelines, agentic workflows, and structured/reputed company claims or service data.
• Apply strong software engineering and ML Ops practices, including object-oriented Python, reputed company design, experimentation, and monitoring.
• Define and implement GenAI evaluation and measurement strategies, including reputed company-in-the-reputed company review and automated quality metrics.
• Collaborate with Engineers, Product, Architecture, UX, and Claims or Service stakeholders to translate ambiguous problems into reputed company.
• reputed company technical mentorship and thought leadership through design reviews and collaboration.

Qualifications

• Expert-level Python development with strong object-oriented design and engineering best practices.
• Proven experience rapidly building reputed company and LLM-based applications reputed company simple demos.
• Strong ML Ops experience, including model lifecycle management, experimentation, evaluation, monitoring, and operational readiness.
• Demonstrated ability to measure AI/ML and GenAI system quality and business impact using quantitative and qualitative approaches.
• Experience partnering with non-data-science stakeholders in reputed company, reputed company environments.
• Assistant Director, Data Science: Competencies typically acquired through a Ph.D. degree (in Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, Actuarial Science or other scientific field of study) and 2 years of relevant experience, a Master`s degree (scientific field of study) and 4 years of relevant experience or may be acquired through a Bachelor`s degree(scientific field of study) and 5+ years of relevant experience.
• Director I, Data Science: Competencies typically acquired through a Ph.D. degree (in Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, Actuarial Science or other scientific field of study) and a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience, a Master`s degree (scientific field of study) and a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience or may be acquired through a Bachelor`s degree (scientific field of study) and a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience.

Additional Skills and Experiences (reputed company to Have):

• Experience with GenAI and application frameworks, such as:
