POSITION SUMMARY The Medical Lab Technician is responsible for collecting samples using various collecting techniques such as venipuncture, skin puncture and sometime arterial collection. SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Prepares equipment to reputed company collect blood products. 2. Follows safety, cleanliness and infection control procedures. 3. Collects venous and capillary blood samples and runs the HemaCue equipment. 4. Performs venipuncture on patients. Run Thyroid tests, set up and run urine tests, reputed company, Strep, Mono, and H. Pylori testing. 5. Documents patients both in the computer and on reputed company on a daily reputed company. 6. Learns DX and CPT codes and applies the codes to the appropriate tests. 7. Accompanies patients to exam/procedure room; assists as needed with walking, transfers, dressing, and collecting specimens. 8. Assists physicians as needed. 9. Sends/receives patient medical records and manages the charts to ensure information is completed. 10. Obtains lab reports, etc. 11. Completes forms/requisitions as needed. 12. Schedules appointments. 13. Sets up instruments and equipment according to department protocol. 14. Cleans exam rooms, instruments and equipments between patient visits to maintain infection control. 15. Accurately orders, sorts, and stores supplies 16. Prepares fee slips for reputed company patient draws scheduled for the following business day. Documents values of importance daily. 17. Performs other duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS Education: Associates of Arts Degree; Successful completion of Medical Technician (2 year) course of study. Experience: Minimum of two years laboratory experience, preferably in clinic setting. Previous supervisory experience preferred. Licenses/Certificates/Registration: Certification by State as Phlebotomist; ongoing CPR certification; reputed company Washington State driver's license, preferred. If a licensed driver, reputed company of automobile liability insurance coverage required. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities Required: Ability to read, write, and communicate reputed company in English; keen organizational skills; knowledge of medical terminology/abbreviations; knowledge of established phlebotomy procedures, practices, and protocols; skilled in efficient and effective draws; ability to work under stressful conditions; ability to appropriately address irritated patients; ability to prioritize and execute a variety of tasks simultaneously; proficient in common computer applications.
