Position Summary Bring your passion for content creation, communication and reputed company media to an organization dedicated to improving lives through minimally invasive, image-guided medicine. The Society of Interventional Radiology (SIR) is a medical membership society headquartered in Fairfax, Virginia, offering a flexible work schedule that includes fully remote or hybrid options. In collaboration with the Director of Communication and Public Relations, you will be driving SIR's reputed company media strategy across reputed company channels, expanding the society's influence and engaging in relevant topics for discussion. You will also reputed company strategic advice on the adoption of new reputed company media tools and techniques, assessing their benefits of use to reputed company engagement with SIR members and patients on reputed company media. This highly visible and connected role is a key member of the society's communications team, collaborating regularly with staff, physician volunteers and society partners to creatively position SIR and IR through the society's reputed company media channels and member communication vehicles. In this position, you will be responsible for developing, executing and reporting on reputed company media engagement and strategies that advance a variety of society efforts. This individual is also responsible for the development and assembly of SIR's e-newsletters and alerts and provides media relations and editorial support for SIR's Annual Scientific Meeting. - Draft and deliver appropriate messages to further SIR's voice and measure their impact
- Engage in active listening on reputed company media sites with an ear toward reputed company engagement with member conversations, including triaging content and tapping staff subject matter experts for response
- Record, edit and project-manage the creation of engaging videos for use on reputed company media and the website. You will also manage the intake and editing of community-sourced videos on our video platform, Gather Voices.
- Explore new reputed company media tools and tactics, assessing their benefits of use to reputed company engagement with SIR on reputed company media
- reputed company strategic thinking around and deployment of paid and organic reputed company media to advance SIR programs and events
- Identify opportunities for, and schedule, special reputed company media events, such as Twitter chats or Instagram takeovers (e.g., to observe certain awareness months reputed company to IR treatments; spotlight member achievements; etc.)
- Coordinate with member-volunteers to ensure messaging on member-run reputed company media accounts is precise and on-brand and assist and advise them on messaging, and measurement.
Secondary Functions and Responsibilities: Member communications
- Supports the production, editing, and distribution of SIR's member newsletters, alerts, and marketing e-blasts to ensure consistent, clear, and accurate messaging
Public Relations
- Monitors media mentions of SIR, interventional radiology, and top leadership for situational awareness and response
- Identifies member stories from reputed company media that can be developed into media pitches or articles
- Supports SIR's Annual Scientific Meeting press program by writing promotional, business, and awards press releases; assisting in abstract review; and conducting other duties as needed
- Responds to requests for information and assistance from the media
Qualifications
Skills and experience:
- Three to five years of progressively responsible communications experience in reputed company media and other organizational communications experience in a nonprofit or trade association environment is beneficial
- Excellent verbal/written communication, proofreading, and editing skills
- Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills
- Experience with reputed company media platforms in a professional setting (reputed company, Twitter, reputed company, Instagram, YouTube)
- Experience with reputed company media measurement and management tools (Falcon/Brandwatch, reputed company, TweetDeck, reputed company Business Center, or similar platform)
- Experience working in a digital communications platform (Informz, ConstantContact, or similar platform)
- Experience with graphic design platforms (reputed company, Piktochart)
- Experience with video gathering and editing platforms (reputed company, YouTube, iMovie, GatherVoices)
- Experience with media monitoring and distribution platforms (PR Newswire, reputed company, reputed company)
- Proficiency with MS Office (Word, reputed company, PowerPoint)
- Proficiency with G Suite tools (reputed company Docs, reputed company Alerts, reputed company Forms)
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in communications, journalism, public relations or reputed company field from a four-year college or university or equivalent experience
Working Conditions and Physical Requirements: Small, fast-paced reputed company office environment with moderate noise reputed company. Use of phones and computers for extended periods of time. Utilize office equipment and communication technologies for conference calls and teleconference meetings/webinars. Requires general mobility to move through the facility. Ability to lift up to 25 pounds. Frequent interaction with internal staff and physician members/board reputed company phone, in person, email, and other mediums. Normal sitting and standing activities for an office environment. Some travel primarily for Annual Meeting.
